Busswil bei Büren was a political municipality in the Seeland administrative district of the canton of Bern in Switzerland until December 31, 2010 . On January 1, 2011, it merged with the Lyss community .
geography
Busswil is located on the Alte Aare , the part of the Aare that still flows from Aarberg to Büren after the correction of the Jura waters . On both sides of the Alte Aare there is a floodplain , which is now protected.
population
Busswil is a German-speaking municipality. Only 1.8% are French-speaking.
There is a civic community with the families Bangerter, Eggli ,aken, Stauffer and Stebler. This owns 0.7 km 2 (23%) of land and is therefore probably the largest landowner in Busswil.

economy
Nutrex AG, a Coop vinegar factory, is located in Busswil . In 1965, a grain silo was put into operation directly on the railway track in the direction of Dotzigen near the train station . After several extensions, it now holds 16,000 t. The silo is the tallest building in the village and can be seen from afar.
traffic
Busswil has rail connections to Büren an der Aare , Lyss and Biel / Bienne . This means that the Busswil train station is, to a limited extent, a transfer station.
For road traffic, there has been the T6 motorway from Biel to Lyss since December 21, 1958. Busswil does not have its own connection, the next connections are in Lyss or Studen. Nevertheless, the road is of great importance for commuters.
history
In 1864 Busswil got its own train station after the Biel-Bern line was built, and the Lyss- Solothurn line opened in 1876 . The first Jura water correction , with which Busswil was freed from a large part of the floods , also falls during this period .
Busswil was an independent municipality until December 31, 2010 .
