Lüscherz (French: Locras ) is a municipality in the Seeland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

history

The oldest surviving mention of the place name Lüscherz dates back to 1271. However, bank settlements have been documented as early as the Neolithic .

Lüscherz is located on the southern bank of Lake Biel on the northern slope of the Schaltrain . Direct neighboring communities are Brüttelen , Hagneck , Finsterhennen , Siselen and Vinelz . Because of the similarity of the names, Lüscherz is often confused with the communities of Tüscherz and Ligerz , both of which are located on the northern shore of Lake Biel.

The voting shares of the parties in the 2019 National Council election were: SVP 51.4%, SP 13.7%, BDP 6.0%, glp 6.1%, FDP 8.8%, GPS 7.7%, EVP 1.5 %, Pirates 1.4%, DU 1.4%.
