history

Later, the names Rupolsriet (1389), Rapoltzried (around 1400), Ruppelsried (1487), Ruplissried (1505), Ropolssried (1516), Rapolsried (1531) and Rippelszried (1577) appeared. In the 13th century the rulership of Ruppoldsried came to the Johanniterkomturei in Münchenbuchsee. Since 1406, sovereignty over the area near Bern was incumbent. After the Kommende was secularized in 1528, Ruppoldsried was assigned to the Landvogtei Münchenbuchsee in the Zollikofen district court . After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), the village belonged to the Zollikofen district during the Helvetic Republic and from 1803 to the Fraubrunnen Oberamt, which received the status of an official district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831.

Until December 31, 2012, Ruppoldsried was an independent municipality .

The former name Ruplisried is not to be confused with Rüplisried , a district of Mühleberg .
