Bätterkinden is a municipality in the Emmental administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .
geography
Bätterkinden is around 20 km north of Bern . It is located west of the Emme on Urtenenbach and Limpach . The community consists of the settlement areas of Bätterkinden and Kräiligen , the hamlets of Alp and Holzhäusern as well as the outer courtyards Berchtoldshof , Buuchi , Studenacher , upper and lower Löffelhof , Neumatt , Niedermatt and Rütti .
The north-south extension is 7.4 km. Bätterkinden is surrounded by seven Bernese ( Aefligen , Fraubrunnen , Utzenstorf , Wiler bei Utzenstorf , Zielebach ) and five Solothurn municipalities ( Buchegg , Biberist , Gerlafingen , Lohn-Ammannsegg , Lüterkofen ).

Municipal meeting , all residents who have lived in the municipality for at least three months and who are 18 years of age and older and who are Swiss citizens are entitled to vote .

Municipal council, consisting of 7 members, who are elected by proportional representation. Current composition (legislative period 2016–2020): 3 SVP , 3 SP , 1 BDP . The mayor is Beat Linder (SVP, as of 2016).
National elections
The voting shares of the parties at the 2019 National Council election were: SVP 28.1%, SP 21.6%, BDP 12.9%, GPS 11.0%, glp 10.5%, FDP 6.1%, EVP 3.0 %, CVP 1.2%, pirates 1.1%.

Public transport
- Train connections to Bern and Solothurn with a regular timetable (usually every half hour). The travel time to Solothurn is 12 minutes and to Bern 26 minutes

Road connections
Two cantonal roads cross in the Bätterkinden part of the village: The T12 Solothurn-Bern transport route in a north-south direction. The road Lyss -Utzenstorf-Koppigen / Burgdorf in a west-east direction. There is also the cantonal road, which connects Bätterkinden with the Bucheggberg via Kyburg . The motorway connections Kirchberg (direction Bern ) and Kriegstetten (direction Basel / Zurich ) of the A1 can be reached in approx. 10 minutes driving time.
history
The oldest surviving documentary mention of Bätterkinden dates back to 1243.
In March 2015, the residents of Bätterkinden, Utzenstorf, Wiler and Zielebach voted on a merger to form the municipality of Landshut. With the exception of Bätterkinden, all municipalities rejected the merger.
