Rüderswil is a municipality in the Emmental administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

A community of residents and a parish of the Reformed Churches Bern-Jura-Solothurn exist under the name . A civic community does not exist.

history

Rüderswil is an Alemannic settlement and got its current name during the Franconian rule in the 8th / 9th. Century. The name can be traced back to the elder "Ruodheri".

Geography and population

Rüderswil is located in the Emmental . The neighboring communities starting from the north in a clockwise direction are Lützelflüh , Trachselwald , Lauperswil , Landiswil and Hasle bei Burgdorf . The community consists of the places Zollbrück, Rüderswil, part of the place Ranflüh and Schwanden. At the end of 2015, 2364 people lived in the municipality, 93 of them foreigners. Zollbrück in the southeast of the municipality has merged with Lauperswil and is now larger than the town of Rüderswil. The merger efforts with the municipality of Lauperswil failed in May 2009 because of the rejection by Lauperswil.
