The Reformed Church of Bätterkinden is a baroque church building in the municipality of Bätterkinden ( Switzerland ).

history

The first mention of the Bätterkinden church dates back to 1275. Today's church was built in 1664 by the Bern master craftsman Abraham Dünz .

description

The church is designed as a hall church with a polygonal finish . In this specifically Protestant building - unlike in church buildings in the Catholic tradition - the choir is neither retracted nor significantly raised. In addition, it is provided with lay choir stalls so that the priest is not distanced from the community by the choir, but is surrounded by it.

In the chancel there is a communion table and baptismal font , while the pulpit is positioned on the side wall of the nave . There is an Oculus window between the basket and the sound cover . The church is illuminated through arched windows with Gothic tracery . The rich baroque grisaille paintings on the door frames, windows and the approach of the wooden ceiling are remarkable .

The neo-Gothic stained glass and the organ (built in 1808 or 1826 by Philipp Heinrich Caesar; today's work in 1966 by Orgelbau Geneva), the front of which is in Empire style , are more recent .
