Florian Ast (born June 20, 1975 in Solothurn ) is a Swiss musician .

Life

Florian Ast grew up with his parents in Utzenstorf in Bern and in Kräiligen near Bätterkinden . As a boy Florian played his first pieces on the piano, composed his own songs and wanted to become a musician. This was followed by appearances at numerous festivals in various band formations. During his school days, Florian organized his own concerts. In 1989 he played for the first time publicly with his group General Subscription. He integrated the Schwyzerörgeli that he had received from his grandfather into the usual rock music line-up (guitars, drums, bass, keyboards) . Florian spent most of his free time practicing in the rehearsal room, where he learned various instruments.

Florian Ast lives in the canton of Obwalden , where his production company is located. In 2003 Ast married the make-up artist of the same age, Esther, from whom he separated in 2011.

In May 2011 it was officially announced that he has been in a relationship with the singer Francine Jordi since February 2011 . The relationship lasted until June 2012. In August 2012, the singer confirmed that he was in a relationship with actress Solveig Romero . In February 2013, his split from Solveig Romero became known. After that he was in a relationship with the Swiss-Singaporean pianist Rahel Senn until 2017 . A son comes from this relationship. In June 2017 Florian Ast became a father again, he had a daughter with a new partner.

Career

During an internship to train as a kindergarten teacher, Florian Ast met people from the record industry in a music store and applied to BMG Ariola with his first own CD production General Subscription . Shortly afterwards, at the age of 18, he received an offer for an artist contract with BMG Ariola.

After a year in the teachers' college in Langenthal and an attempt at the business school, his first single, Daneli , was released in early 1996 . His first album Florenstein was with gold and platinum excellent, and Florian Ast was in Switzerland at the recent platinum Act Ever.

During the Florenstein Tour with over 200 concerts, Florian wrote new songs. With his following album Gringo he was able to repeat the success, but said goodbye to the "folklore pop" style. Although he always saw the Schwyzerörgeli as just one element in his music, it was perceived as his trademark. The industry magazine MusikWoche described his texts as "strange".

In 1999 Florian Ast toured across Germany and Austria and surprised the listeners in the opening act for Deep Purple with his Bern German rock.

In 2000 the album Spitz followed , which reached platinum status, with the hit single Sex and the extensive Spitz tour. After this tour, Florian Ast spent most of the time in Vienna and Kenya to write new songs for his fourth studio album. Bilderbuch (2002) achieved platinum status in Switzerland.

One of his most successful songs was Träne (2002), in a duet with Francine Jordi . With this, he produced the most successful Swiss single of all time, which sold almost 70,000 times and achieved gold status. Two more duet songs: Chumm, give me dini hand (on the melody from the Beatles classic I want to hold your hand ) with Kisha and Bruuni Ouge with Polo Hofer . Simultaneously with the single Schöni Meitschi ( Lucky Lips ) he released his first hit collection Vollträffer in 2003 , which reached platinum status in the course of the year.

In 2004 , his fifth studio album Astrein was released, now produced by Universal Music , followed by the sold-out Astrein tour in all major Swiss cities. Astrein achieved gold status.

At the beginning of 2007 his sixth studio album Läbeszeiche was released , which immediately reached number 1 in the Swiss charts and reached platinum status in Switzerland with over 30,000 albums sold. The Läbeszeiche tour followed in spring, followed by a few festivals. At the end of 2007 Ast released the live album Theater National with four new studio songs. A live DVD and backstage recordings are part of the Theater National. Erich von Däniken wrote the biography in the booklet .

Florian Ast has been working as a producer and songwriter for DJ Ötzi since 2008 . Eight songs by Florian Ast are featured on the Hotel Engel CD . At the end of 2009 he produced the single Landei with Katharina Michel and sang the single Alles eis Ding with her .

In September 2011 he recorded a song he had composed with Solveig Romero .

Ast announced his new album Wildsou for January 2020 , from which the single Sanggaue was released in advance in May 2019 .
