Beresina or The Last Days of Switzerland is a satire from 1999 by Daniel Schmid . The film parodies Swiss clichés and Swiss reality, especially that of higher social circles.

action

From the Elektrostal industrial site in Russia , Irina comes to Switzerland in search of a better future. She befriends the Swiss lawyer Waldvogel, who introduces her to higher circles in which she should work as a call girl . Waldvogel and his girlfriend Charlotte want to get information about Irina; they promise her a Swiss passport for it. Irina naively responds, not considering the bizarre desires of the gentlemen to whom she is fed as sex.

One of her clients is the already slightly senile former divisional officer Sturzenegger. He is fascinated by Irina and also makes promises to her. In addition, he reveals to her the existence of a secret society of retired officers reminiscent of the P-26 , of which he is a member and which was founded during the Second World War to save Switzerland from a takeover, for example by Germany .

When Irina finds out that she has been betrayed on all sides, she activates - again rather unintentionally - by calling the secret group, which then carries out a successful coup . When the putschists trace the beginning of the telephone chain after taking over the state and the media, they come across Irina, who then unceremoniously crowns her Queen of Switzerland in the Lucerne Jesuit Church .
