Iván Darvas
Iván Darvas (born June 14, 1925 as Szilárd Darvas in Behynce ( Eng . Behintz ) in what is now Slovakia ; † June 3, 2007 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian actor and member of parliament.
Life
The son of János Darvas and Antoninya Jevdokimova, he spent his childhood in Prague , where his father worked as a newspaper editor. Because his mother was of Russian descent and he attended a German school, he learned both languages as a child.
After elementary school Darvas went to the drama academy, which he did not finish. On the one hand, the Second World War was to blame for this ; on the other hand, he got a job in Művész Színház with Zoltán Várkonyi in 1946 . At this time he took the name Iván in order not to be confused with the humorist Szilárd Darvas . From 1949 he worked in the Madách Színház .
After the 1956 uprising, he was imprisoned for 22 months. He then worked as a laborer. He did not return to the stage until 1965 - in the Vígszínház (German comedy theater ) at Várkonyi, with whom he stayed until 1989. In 1972 he married his wife Irén Morocza.
From 1990 to 1994 he worked for the SZDSZ in the Hungarian Parliament and was also a freelance actor.
