Mari Jászai Prize

The Mari Jászai Prize ( Hungarian: Jászai Mari-díj ) is a Hungarian award for the art of acting .

It was introduced by the Hungarian Parliament in 1953. It was named after the famous actress Mari Jászai .

particularities

From 1955 to 1976 the award was in three stages, previously only two stages. It was usually only awarded to ten people each year. The award has been single-stage since 1976, and around 13 people have been awarded since 1992.

In 1992 the Mari Jászai Prize was renewed by the Hungarian Ministry of Education.

Prize money

The prize money is 200,000 forints (approx. € 800). The prize money has been free of any taxation since 2004.
