Joachim Tomaschewsky
Joachim Tomaschewsky (born April 1, 1919 in Chemnitz ; † February 8, 2019 in Potsdam ) was a German film and theater actor who has appeared in more than 120 film and television productions. He also worked as a voice actor and as a speaker for radio plays.
life and work
After training as an actor from 1935 to 1937 at the Reimann School in Berlin, he worked in the theater in Guben and - after the end of the war - in Halle and Leipzig, before moving to the Volksbühne Berlin in 1962 , to whose ensemble he belonged for many decades. Since 1989 he has also been present in Austria on stages in Graz and Vienna.
He gained his first film experience during his acting training as a camera assistant at Leni Riefenstahl's "Olympiade-Film GmbH". In parallel to his theater work, Tomaschewsky also worked in film and television productions for DEFA and DFF , mostly in smaller roles, from the mid-1950s . One of his few larger assignments was the character of Beisel, the ominous keeper of the “Archive of Death” (TV series, 1980). He owed his fame above all to the crime genre, he was a welcome Polizeiruf-110 actor, but above all an actor who played countless film deaths, so that he called himself a "corpse on duty". He played a leading role as a BND man Müller in the consecutive Rudi Kurz espionage thrillers The Man from Canada , Treffpunkt Geneva and Project Aqua , which were created from 1967 to 1969 and were based on true events. At the age of over 90, he played in various productions at the Volksbühne in Berlin.
His daughter Katarina Tomaschewsky , who is also an actress, was born to the actress Gisela Morgen . Joachim Tomaschewsky died in February 2019, almost two months before his 100th birthday, in Potsdam.
