Neumann, ring twice

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neumann, ring twice was a legendary family radio play series on the radio of the GDR .

Content orientation

This GDR radio series was the answer to The Hesselbachs and similar family series in the Federal Republic. The "Neumann" brought it into their term of 3 February 1968 to 30 May 1981 on Radio DDR I to a total of 678 episodes and was one of the most popular radio drama series of the GDR broadcast . The first episode from the pen of Joachim Witte ran under the title The move and the last episode, which was also from Witte, under: Waiting for Hans .

With the Neumanns - father Hans (machinist), mother Marianne (teacher), daughter Brigitte and son Jan - everything happened that was also important in real socialist everyday life: membership in the FDJ , trouble with the brigade, NVA military service, struggling to shop or simply having marital problems. The criticism of the circumstances of the time was hidden. B. the visit from the west had to be unloaded because guests from Hungary had announced themselves. The “socialist model family” was stuffy and petty bourgeois like its western counterpart.

In the early phase of the 14-year series, the entire Neumann team met on Saturday mornings in the radio play studio of Funkhaus Nalepastraße for production, and that same evening the freshly recorded episode was broadcast on Radio DDR I at 8 p.m.
