The New Bedford Inlet is a 40 km long, 14 km wide, sac-like and icy bay at the Lassiter Coast of Palmer Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between Cape Kidson and Cape Brooks .
Scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941) discovered and photographed the bay at a flyover in December 1940. It is named them after the port city of New Bedford in the State of Massachusetts , that of the 19th century a stronghold of whaling in New England was .
