Swiss Films

Swiss Films is a Swiss foundation that supports the marketing and distribution of Swiss films nationally and internationally.

The non-profit organization emerged in 2004 from the merger of the Swiss Film Center SFZ , founded in 1975 , the Pro Helvetia Film Service and the Swiss short film agency KAS .

The highest body is the nine-member board of trustees, which is chaired by Josefa Haas. The operational management has been carried out since May 2013 by Catherine Ann Berger , who replaced the long-time director Micha Schiwow. Swiss Films is based in Zurich and has a further office in Geneva .

Tasks and funding

The purpose of the foundation is the dissemination, cultural mediation and networking of Swiss filmmaking. To this end, it offers directors and producers a promotion service and promotes the international distribution of their films. It organizes film series and retrospectives at home and abroad, is a partner of the Swiss Film Prize and publisher of the national film catalog, which lists all feature, documentary and short films made in one year. Swiss Films is one of the ten founding members of the European Film Promotion EFP , a network for film promotion agencies in Europe.

The foundation has a service mandate from the Federal Office for Culture and the Pro Helvetia cultural foundation and is also supported by other public and private bodies.
