Ulrich Noethen (born November 18, 1959 in Munich ; real name Ulrich Schmid ) is a German theater and film actor .

Life

Ulrich Noethen grew up as the youngest of five children in a parish family . The family initially lived in Neu-Ulm on the Danube , where their father Klaus-Peter Schmid (1920–2018) was the dean of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The family later moved to Augsburg . He graduated from high school there near St. Anna . He studied for a short time law , but later drama at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart . Ulrich Schmid took his mother's maiden name (Noethen) as his stage name. He married the actress Friederike Wagner , with whom he has a daughter. After thirteen years of marriage, the couple lived separately from 2005 onwards. The marriage has been divorced since 2009. Ulrich Noethen lives with Alina Bronsky and their three children from their first marriage in Berlin-Charlottenburg . The couple have a daughter together.

From 1985 to 1987 he was a member of the ensemble of the municipal theaters in Freiburg . He was then engaged in the Birach tent ensemble until 1988 and then moved to the Schauspiel Köln for two years , where he worked under the direction of Frank Castorf and Max Färberböck , among others . He then moved to the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin . He drew attention to himself there through his performance in productions of Faust , Death and the Devil and A Midsummer Night's Dream . In 1995 he was able to see him for the first time in the television series The Partners . He appeared in Dominik Graf's Tatort episode Frau Bu lacht (1995) and in The Scorpion (1996). For his role in Scorpio , he was nominated for the Golden Lion for Best Supporting Actor.

In the following years he remained in the family comedy genre with roles in Bibi Blocksberg (2002), The Flying Classroom by Erich Kästner as a teacher Dr. Johann “Justus” Bökh (2003) and in the sequel to Sams in Danger (2003) treu.

In 2007, he played the role of husband Helmut Halm in Rainer Kaufmann's film Ein Flehendes Pferd based on the novel of the same name by Martin Walser alongside Ulrich Tukur and Katja Riemann . He was nominated for the German Film Award 2008 in the category of best leading actor . In 2009 Ulrich Noethen was seen as Commissioner Tabor Süd in two ZDF film adaptations based on Friedrich Anis' crime novels. Noethen received the Adolf Grimme Prize for Inspector South and the air guitarist , as he had previously for his leading role in Hermine Huntgeburth's two-part TV devil's roast . For his portrayal of the French monarch Charles IX. in Jo Baier's historical film Henri 4 (2009) he was nominated for the German Film Prize.
