JR Moehringer

John Joseph "JR" Moehringer (born December 7, 1964 in New York City ) is an American journalist and author.

After studying at Yale University , he worked as a reporter for the Rocky Mountain News and the New York Times . He has been a correspondent for the Los Angeles Times for several years .

In 2000 Moehringer was for a documentary about the small town of Gee's Bend ( Alabama ) with the Pulitzer Prize awarded for journalism. He made his literary debut in 2005 with the autobiographical novel Tender Bar , with which he achieved an international bestseller. Together with Andre Agassi he wrote his autobiography "Open", which appeared in 2009.

The film The Champ was made after Moehringer's Los Angeles Times article about heavyweight boxer Bob Satterfield .

In 2012 his novel Knapp am Herz over the popular American bank robber Willie Sutton (1901-1980) was published.
