description

The approximately 120 meter long and eight meter wide bridge spans the Bintang Bolong , the largest tributary of the Gambia River . It is part of the South Bank Road , the main highway in Gambia. The Brumen Bridge is the only bridge over the Bintang Bolong in Gambia, which forms the border between the West Coast Region and the Lower River Region .

The town of Kalagi is located southwest of the bridge running in north-south direction . On the northern side there is an approximately 310 meter long dam, which is located in the flood plain of the Bintang Bolong. It is indicated that the flow to the place Sandeng , the approximately three and a half kilometers above the bridge at the border to Senegal is, navigable is, in practice, however, the further movement is hindered by the low height of the Brumen Bridge.

The bridge and the Süduferstraße were opened to traffic at the end of 1993 after a new building, which was financed by the African Development Bank.

As in other places on Süduferstraße, vehicles are checked by the police and the army when they pass the bridge.
