content

Hannes Schmitz is a garbage collector in Hamburg . He is a former football player from HSV , but is now training the youth team in a Hamburg suburb due to a sports injury. Hannes daughter Annika, whom he raised alone, works in a hotel and is in a relationship with her colleague, the cook Alexander.

After Alexander introduced Hannes and Annika to his parents and at the same time made Annika a marriage proposal, they were amazed when they found out that Alexander was the son of the multi-millionaires Verena and Moritz von Wrede. Since Alexander Annika has withheld his true identity, she is outraged and fled with her father Hannes from Alexander's family house in Hamburg-Blankenese . The relationship breaks, but Hannes quickly realizes that Annika and Alexander are still in love and that they want to refresh their relationship. However, Hannes is not at all satisfied with this and would like Annika to leave Alexander for good. Since she does not follow the plan of her father, he tries everything possible to end their relationship. Alexander's father Moritz also tries to end the relationship between his son and Annika: Moritz offers Hannes money so that he and his daughter can disappear from Hamburg for a certain period of time. However, Hannes does not accept this offer and at the same time gives Moritz 50 euros to ensure that Alexander keeps his hands off Annika.

Annika and Alexander fled to Denmark at the same time to escape problems at home. Both find each other again and are sure of their relationship until Annika discovers an email that Alexander wanted to write to his parents. In the draft it is written that Alexander needs time to check whether he or his parents are right, whether he suits Annika or not. After Annika has read the email, she is hurt by the message and goes back to Hamburg in anger. Hannes Schmitz and Moritz von Wrede meet again, and Moritz tells Hannes that Alexander Consuela Martinez, a Colombian hotel heiress, is going to marry. Annika also learns about their upcoming wedding and is shocked. Alexander himself does not agree to the wedding because he does not love Consuela. Nevertheless, the church wedding ceremony takes place, but there is a scandal: Annika (in a wedding dress), Hannes and his colleagues from the garbage disposal drive to the church in a garbage truck. Annika enters the church through a window and thus prevents the marriage between Alexander and Consuela. Thereupon she escapes from the church with Alexander and continues with the garbage truck. Alexander's mother, who had previously looked shocked at the escape, calls out to him that she is proud of her son.

criticism

While TV Spielfilm disparagingly describes the film as a “class barrier drama from the 50s” , Kino.de writes of a “highly entertaining film” with “wonderful dialog battles” . However, it is not understandable what Annika finds in the "snuggly" Alexander.
