action

On a Saturday, Mr. Taschenbier meets Sams, a strange creature, neither boy nor girl, neither goblin nor animal; the sams is just a sams. For this it was necessary that certain things happened in the right order in the previous days: On Sunday the sun was shining, Monday Mr. Taschenbier met his only friend Mr. Mon, Tuesday he was on duty, Wednesday was the middle of the week, Thursday it thundered, Friday he was off and Saturday happened, which changed Mr. Taschenbier's whole life.

The Sams has a lot of blue dots around its pig nose. Every time Mr. Taschenbier makes a wish, this wish is fulfilled and a wish point disappears.

Despite the chaos that Sams brings to Mr. Taschenbier's life, it turns out to be a godsend in the end. Because Mr. Taschenbier gains self-confidence through Sam.

Reviews

The child who was never allowed to be a pocket beer finds its late realization in Sams, whose ability to fulfill wishes drives the action forward. The realization of the catalog of wishes is appropriately low tech, not overloaded with effects and a reduced alternative to the overstimulation of computer games and Pokémon trips.

With a lot of love for detail, the filmmakers succeed in conjuring up the funny charm of the book on the screen. Anarcho-humor and childish destructiveness meet wonderfully quirky characters and fantastically weird ideas. The result is family entertainment in the best sense of the word: warm-hearted, without pressing on the lacrimal gland, and cute, without slipping into cute naivety.
Björn Ahrens, TV-Movie 2001-22

Inventively staged, witty written, excellently photographed and excellently played right into the supporting roles, a film adaptation of a classic children's book, which unobtrusively formulates its educational message of the sense and nonsense of wishes and provides adults and children with a thoughtful and entertaining behavioral mirror.
Film service 2001-21

In the adorable, quirky, unexcited, funny toddler film gem, an intimidated Mr. Taschenbier experiences all kinds of adventures with the red-haired chaos dwarf.
Cinema 2001-10

The congenial film adaptation of the classic children's book. Parents giggle too!
Gernot Gricksch, TV-Today 2001-22

A colorful and funny comedy that is in no way inferior to Paul Maar's children's book.
Kino-News 2001-10

As if Pan Tau and Pumuckl were going for it together: hilarious, fun-loving and well played.
