action
The film is about Martin Taschenbier, the son of Margarete and Bruno Taschenbier, the technical director of the school. On Martin's eleventh birthday, none of his classmates come to his party because he has no friends at school. Father Taschenbier remembers the "Sams-Rückhol-Drops" (SRT), which Sams left behind when he disappeared ten years ago. With that he can get the Sams back again. In addition, the drops cause the Sams, if it is already there, to receive new wish points again. Margarete wants Sams to get rid of all wish points and Bruno wishes all points away with senseless wishes. Thanks to the SRT that Martin drinks, the Sams gets new points. After initial difficulties between Martin and Sams, the two get along very well, but then Fitzgerald Daume, the school’s nasty sports teacher, realizes that his lessons are not doing the right thing. He decides to spy on Martin and becomes aware of Sams, which he kidnaps to his home and has his wishes fulfilled there for him. However, there are always side effects. Since Mr. Daume is not a pocket beer, another unpredictable thing happens with each of his wishes, such as a goat in the room, a tree in the house or an elephant in the gym.
When Martin and Bruno Taschenbier notice that the Sams is in Daume's hands, they want to free it. Physical education teacher Daume desperately wants to become director of the school, the first physical education teacher since the 19th century who is also director (after one in Semipalatinsk in Russia). Fitzgerald also wants to become chairman of the roller skating club in order to impress the math teacher Ms. Müller-Klessheim. Before the vote, he wants his name to be on all ballot papers of the seven board members, but the Sams only has one wish point, with which only one ballot can be changed. So Anton Mon, Bruno Taschenbier's friend, is elected to the board. Mr. Daume locked Sams in the gym beforehand, which Martin overhears by chance. He tries to free it, but is caught by Fitzgerald Daume. The two explain to the sports teacher that on Saturdays when the moon is full at midnight, he should go up on the roof of the house with the Sams and call “Gatsmas” (Saturday backwards), then the Sams would get new points again. In fact, the person who says “Gatsmas” also gets the desired points, and so Mr Daume receives the points on his face and Sams and Martin can ask for anything they want.
The film ends with Mr. Daume sitting on the roof of the school, all the students laughing at him, Martin finally having some peace and quiet and Sams is free again.
criticism
Lexicon of international film : Sympathetic, turbulent family film that entertains with lots of gags, slapstick interludes and "sensations", while offering plenty of space for the bizarre adult characters and somewhat neglecting the amiable development story of the child.
