Eva-Maria Kurz

Eva-Maria Kurz (* 17th May 1944 in Stuttgart ) is a German Diploma - Psychologist , actress and radio play - and audiobook spokeswoman.

After graduating from the Hölderlin-Gymnasium in Stuttgart in 1963 , Eva-Maria Kurz first studied medicine at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and switched to psychology after two semesters . In 1974 she finished her studies with a diploma . Subsequently, she trained as a clinical psychologist and family therapist ( systemic therapy ). Between 1975 and 1983 she had a permanent position as a psychologist at the University of Tübingen. As a tutor, she was responsible for looking after residents of the student village Waldhäuser Ost , where she had lived in one of the dormitories since 1975 in order to be the direct contact point for students who had got into personal difficulties. Her job was terminated due to austerity measures by the university, although there was a need for a psychologist, wrote the regional press.

After the involuntary termination of her activity, Kurz moved to Berlin in 1983 , initially worked in various functions at off-theaters and began training as an actress. The decisive factor for their professional reorientation were theater works by Klaus Michael Grüber and George Tabori , in particular an internship at the Freie Volksbühne Berlin during rehearsals by Klaus Michael Grüber for Pirandello's Six People Looking for an Author . In 1985, Kurz met Rosa von Praunheim , took on one of the leading roles as a gossip reporter Carola Schurksch in his film A Virus Knows No Morals (1986), thus establishing her further career as an actress. She also worked several times with the directors Christoph Schlingensief , Jörg Buttgereit and Arend Agthe .

In the film Faust by Russian director Alexander Sokurow , which received the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2011 , Kurz took on the role of Faust's cook, which Sokurow had written especially for her.

In addition to feature films, Eva-Maria Kurz has also appeared in more than 100 television productions since the early 1990s, as well as in short films , music and web videos. In parallel to her work in film and television, she repeatedly appears on theater stages (Berlin off-theater, Komödie Kassel, Das Theater an der Effingerstrasse in Bern, etc.).

She works as a speaker in radio plays and audio books , for audio guides , video games and at readings.

Eva-Maria Kurz is a member of the German Film Academy .
