Friederike Roth (born April 6, 1948 in Sindelfingen ) is a German writer .

life and work

After graduating from high school, Friederike Roth studied philosophy and linguistics at the University of Stuttgart . 1975 doctorate them to the doctor of philosophy. From 1976 to 1979 she was a lecturer in anthropology and sociology at the Fachhochschule für Sozialwesen in Esslingen am Neckar . Since 1979 she has been working as an audio dramaturg at Süddeutscher Rundfunk (today: Südwestrundfunk ) in Stuttgart . Friederike Roth writes poetry , prose , plays and radio plays . Her work, which often deals with the themes of love and death, is influenced by Roth's scholarly study of language. Since the 1980s, the author has been increasingly skeptical of the mechanisms of the literary business. Friederike Roth is a member of the PEN Center Germany .

Fidelio

For the Bonn production of Fidelio (premiere: September 2005), Friederike Roth wrote new interim texts that replace the "classic" interim texts by Joseph Ferdinand von Sonnleithner and Georg Friedrich Treitschke . The author problematizes the basic contents of the opera.
