Hannu Salonen

Hannu Salonen (born July 10, 1972 in Pori , Finland ) is a Finnish film director . He works mainly in Germany.

Life

Hannu Salonen was born in Pori, Finland in 1972. At 16, he founded an association to produce his first short films. In the late 1980s he spent a year in the USA . He graduated from the Kallio Gymnasium for the Performing Arts in Helsinki and then, in 1992, at the age of 20, got a place at the dffb, the German Film and Television Academy Berlin .

During his youth he was very interested in Chinese martial arts and went to China for some time . In 1997 he won the European championship in Belgium in the discipline "South Saber" (Nan Dao). Salonen came third in “Südfaust” ( Nan Quan ).

His first short film Moments in Monochrome received several awards. His graduation film at the dffb, Downhill City , brought him a. a. the award for “Best European Debut Film” in Angers (Premiers Plans d'Angers), France.

Since then, Hannu Salonen has realized well over two dozen TV crime novels and thrillers in Germany and internationally. His last works include the historical thriller The Midwife with Josefine Preuss in the leading role and SCHULD based on Ferdinand von Schirach with Moritz Bleibtreu in the leading role. At the beginning of 2015, Vares - The Sheriff (distributor: Nordisk Film ) came to Finnish cinemas in Finland.

Salonen is the father of two daughters and lives on Lake Constance .
