The dead from Lake Constance - the fourth woman ( working title hops & malt ) is a German-Austrian ORF / ZDF - TV film director Hannu Salonen from the year 2018 . This is the seventh part of the crime series Die Toten vom Bodensee . The first broadcast took place on February 3, 2018 on ORF. The film was shown on ZDF on October 1, 2018.

action

A female corpse draped like a spider's web is found in a seven-meter-high hop frame . It is already the fourth case of this kind, and everything points to another act by a serial killer. The victims were held captive for several days before they died. However, investigators Hannah Zeiler and Micha Oberländer found that the fourth victim does not match the previous pattern, so it may be the act of a free rider . The autopsy confirms the assumption made by Zeiler and Oberländer. A tattoo was removed from the dead woman by laser treatment, and she is identified as Jutta Reike, the wife of the hop farmer Joseph Reike. He claims to have been with his business partner Christian Täublin, the boss of the Täublin brewery, at the time of the crime. He confirms the alibi.

Maike Vogel has been missing for two days from her husband Tobias, a childhood friend of Oberländer. Tobias fears that his wife could be the next victim of the serial offender. During the investigation, a swimmer was run over by a motorboat on the lake, and the driver of the boat managed to escape undetected. The victim, Dietrich Falkner, was employed as a boiler attendant in the Täublin brewery. In his car, his locker in the brewery and his lake hut there are indications that he could be the wanted serial killer and the murderer of Jutta Reike. He and his wife Hilde lived a secluded life without social contact. Trophies of the four victims are found in the course of the Falkner's house search. At first everything seems to fit, for Komlatschek the case has been settled, for him Dietrich Falkner is the murderer of all four dead, while Zeiler and Oberländer continue to believe in a free rider in the Jutta Reike case. Falkner's autopsy reveals that he was not killed by the boat, but rather struck with a stone.

Oberländer is still looking for Maike Vogel, who also advertised beer with her advertising agency. He finds out that the victims knew each other. On a photo of an earlier election for the beer queen, all victims, with the exception of Jutta Reike, are shown. Maike Vogel was the organizer of the event, she is also on one of the photos. Now Komlatschek is also convinced of the connection between Maike Vogel and the first three victims and of the free rider in the Jutta Reike case. Sylvia Brockmann was also there in the election, from her they learn that Dietrich Falkner was caught masturbating by the women in the photo. Falkner wanted to take revenge on the women, including Maike Vogel, for his humiliation at the time.

After traces of sperm and tire marks on a company car from the brewery were found in Falkner's Seehütte, Christian Täublin confesses to having had a relationship with Jutta Reike. Hilde Falkner first states that she ran over her husband in the boat and then killed her because she feared she would be his next victim. However, she cannot identify the boat. The investigators suspect Joseph Reike to have killed his wife because of the affair with Täublin. Komlatschek suspects that Hilde Falkner, who was a close friend of Joseph Reike, discovered the affair of Christian Täublin and Jutta Reike by chance and reported this to Joseph Reike. After Joseph Reike had killed his wife and Dietrich Falkner, Hilde Falkner took on the murder of her husband in order to protect Joseph, the murder of Jutta Reike should have been framed by Dietrich Falkner. Joseph Reike and Christian Täublin, who blackmailed Joseph Reike with his false alibi, are finally arrested by the police. Maike Vogel is found alive in a disused part of the brewery.

Reviews

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv found that the seventh episode of the series would seem as if the series had passed its zenith, after Detective Inspector Zeiler had been confronted with a childhood trauma anew in every story and this cycle ended with the sixth episode . In this episode, it's mainly the music that creates tension and drama. The images, on the other hand, are too beautiful for the dark plot. "The fact that the thriller is still worth seeing is mainly due to the story."

Kai Spanke wrote in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that the film was "a television thriller in the middle of quality": "by no means successful, but also not so inadequate that hops and malt would be completely lost."
