Markus Brandl (born September 18, 1975 in Rosenheim ) is a German actor .

Life

Markus Brandl grew up in Brannenburg in the Inn Valley. His Italian stepfather ran a Ristorante there , where he often helped out. Markus Brandl took part in theater workshops in Munich while he was still at school . After graduating from high school, he completed an acting training from 1999 to 2003 at the Folkwang University of Applied Sciences in Essen (Acting Bochum course), formerly the Westphalian Drama School.

During his apprenticeship, he already played at the Aachen Theater and the Bochumer Schauspielhaus . After that he had various theater engagements. In 2003, he played at the Schauspielhaus Wuppertal in The robbers by Friedrich Schiller . In 2004 an engagement at the Theater Aachen followed. From 2004 to 2009 Markus Brandl was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Munich Volkstheater .

There he made his debut in 2004 with the role of the painter Schwarz in Lulu by Frank Wedekind ; Directed by Christian Stückl . Brandl premiered in 2009 at the Munich Volkstheater with the monologue Rum and Vodka by Conor McPherson (director: Florian Helmbold, music: Luke Cyrus Goetze); he still appears with it in various small theaters in Munich.

Brandl made his first experiences in front of the camera in 2001 with a few short films and diploma films at the University of Television and Film in Munich. He had his first television role in the television film King of Hearts (2006) directed by Helmut Förnbacher . He played his first major television role as the seedy used car dealer Alex in the television film Alma determined (2007), directed by René Heisig , alongside Christiane Hörbiger . Since 2009 he has mainly been involved in various television productions. A continuous series role was Brandl as an animal protection officer Wagner in the ZDF - TV series Unser Charly (2008-2010).
