Die Toten vom Bodensee - Der Blutritt is a German-Austrian ORF / ZDF - TV film by Michael Schneider from 2020 . This is the eleventh part of the crime series Die Toten vom Bodensee . The first broadcast on ORF is scheduled for September 2, 2020. The film is to be shown for the first time on September 7, 2020 on ZDF.

In their eleventh joint case, the investigation by Micha Oberländer from Lindau and Hannah Zeiler from Bregenz revolves around the blood kick . Marlene Stöhr is hit by a crossbow in the vicinity of the blood kick with over 3000 horses . Marlene survives the attack, seriously injured, and has to be put into an artificial coma .

Her son Oliver only returned to Lake Constance shortly before, after his family blamed him for the death of his godmother. She died three years ago in the fire at her stud , together with a valuable breeding stallion. Marlene, who worked for Oliver's godmother, believed she had seen the animal alive again when it was kicked by blood shortly before the attack on her. After a second attack, Marlene dies, Oberländer and Zeiler investigate.

The shooting took place together with the tenth part of Curse from the Deep from April 16 to June 20, 2019 at Lake Constance and the surrounding area.

The film was produced by Graf Filmproduktion GmbH and Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion , with Austrian broadcasting and Second German Television participating . The production was supported by the TV Fund Austria and the state of Vorarlberg .

Hjalti Bager-Jonathansson was responsible for the sound, Christine Egger for the equipment, Heike Werner for the costume design and Birgit Beranek and Fatma Reil for the mask.

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv found that the crime series had lost much of the charm and, above all, of the mysteriousness that had long made the films so special. The main characters are just quotes from themselves, Lake Constance serves exclusively as a backdrop. Even the eponymous blood kick only plays a role at the beginning of this episode. However, deficiencies in the script and direction would weigh more heavily: the ultimately simple story would be told in an unnecessarily complicated manner, the staging is at best on an average TV crime thriller level and never creates any real tension. Even the experienced members of the ensemble are not always credible, the emotions they put on display sometimes seem like they have been called up.

Wilfried Geldner wrote in the Weser Kurier that this Lake Constance thriller would break with a high degree of mystical tension, also because Oberländer and Zeiler usually research with a bitter expression and a lot of Weltschmerz. If you persevere, after all horse and family secrets have been revealed, you would at least be rewarded with a beautiful Lake Constance sunset.
