The "Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH" was founded in January 2010 by the producer Sam Davis and the international distribution company Beta Film. Davis took over the management . Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion develops and produces fictional television films and series of all genres for public and private broadcasters in Germany, Europe and North America as well as selected cinema projects.

The company's first film Das Wunder von Kärnten (English title: A Day for a Miracle) premiered in 2011 at the Hamburg Film Festival . In 2012 it was awarded a Romy for best TV movie and in 2013 won the Emmy in the category "TV-Movie / Mini-Series". Since then, the Rowboat film and television production has produced various individual pieces in addition to the series Die Toten vom Bodensee and the TV series Professor T.
