International Emmy Award
The International Emmy Award is a television award presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as part of the Emmy Awards . With the International Emmy Award, the organization annually honors the best television programs produced and broadcast outside the USA. The Academy is an organization of global broadcasters with members from nearly 70 countries and over 400 companies. Sixty percent of the board of directors is from outside the United States and represents the world's largest manufacturing, distribution, and broadcasting companies.
history
The academy was founded in 1969 to promote excellence in international television programming. The International Emmy Award is divided into 15 program categories: Art Programs; Best Actor Performance, Best Actress Performance, Children & Youth; Comedy, Current Affairs, Documentary, Drama Series; Interactive channel; Interactive Program; Interactive TV Service, News, Non-Scripted Entertainment; Telenovela and TV Movie / Mini-Series.
The awards will be presented at the International Emmy Awards Gala. It takes place every November at the Hilton Hotel , New York City and is the meeting place for more than 1,200 TV professionals.
In addition to the gala, the International Academy also hosts the International Emmy World Television Festival. The television festival shows the currently nominated international Emmy entries and offers producers and directors the opportunity to talk about their work.
The Academy Foundation also presents the annual Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award for young screenwriters and directors.
