In cooperation with Interpol and Europol , a special police unit was set up in Copenhagen , whose main task is to fight international crimes and terrorism . Denmark's best investigators from all disciplines were brought together for the group. The series is named after the chief investigator of the task force, Hallgrímur Örn Hallgrímsson, at 36 years the youngest detective superintendent of the Danish police, who based on his intuitions and alluding to his middle name (Icelandic Örn ) the nickname (Danish) Ørnen ('The Eagle') ) received.

format

A season consists of eight episodes, each 55 to 58 minutes in length. For the first broadcast, the ZDF merged two episodes into one and shortened these double episodes to around 90 minutes each. The Danish cut version in 24 episodes is the so-called Director's Cut basis for the DVD edition and is used for later repetitions.

In the individual episodes, several storylines are repeatedly taken up and personal stories about the individual characters are developed parallel to the cases. All episodes of a season build on each other dramatically, so that the cases are usually only finally closed at the end of a season.

The titles of the individual episodes are made up of a code name: followed by a term from Greek mythology . This code name can often be used as a direct reference to the living conditions of the individual protagonists. Thus, the continuing search for himself, which leads the main character Hallgrímur Hallgrímsson across Europe, as a modern adaptation of Homer 'rule Odyssey are considered (the subtitle of the Danish version is en criminality odyssé ' a crime Odyssey ').

The first broadcast of the individual cases took place from February 2, 2005 to February 18, 2007 on ZDF in the Sunday crime series on Sundays at 10 p.m. On average, more than four million viewers followed the German premieres; in Denmark the series achieved a market share of up to 67.5 percent.

After the departure of main actor Jens Albinus , the series ended.

  • Hallgrímur Örn Hallgrímsson , danced Hallgrim Ørn Hallgrimsson ( Jens Albinus , voice actor Uwe Büschken ) was born to his Danish mother Gudrun (dies in the first episode) and the Icelandic father Egilsson in Reykjavík , has a sister Jóhanna and begins his career as an officer with Military before he switched to the police.   • Michael Kristensen ( David Owe , voice actor Christian Stark ) is an IT expert in the investigation team and, with his excellent computer skills, is indispensable for the group. However, when he shoots an innocent man while on duty, he is completely transferred to the back office and a preliminary investigation is initiated against him. In episode 12, code name: Ithaca , he is finally released and leaves the investigation team.
  • Ditte Hansen ( Susan Annabel Olsen , voice actress Anke Reitzenstein ) is the pathologist on the investigation team. Her ex-husband Jens also works as a forensic technician for the police. Since her divorce, Ditte has been the single mother of Sofie, the (almost) grown-up daughter who, in episode 9, code name: Kalypso, wanders around the Copenhagen subway after being raped.
