Utopia is a British thriller series that aired on Channel 4 between January 15, 2013 and August 12, 2014 . The two seasons each have six episodes. The television series was recorded in the UK and written by Dennis Kelly . It was produced by the production company Kudos Film and Television . The music for the series was composed by Cristobal Tapia de Veer .
In early October 2014, Channel 4 announced that it would not produce any further seasons of the series.

The television series is named after the fictional graphic novel The Utopia Experiment . Four fans of the picture novel met each other on the Internet: the former medical student Becky, the bored Ian, the conspiracy theorist Wilson Wilson and the eleven-year-old Grant. After a short time, the wanted Jessica Hyde joins them. Together they fall into an obsession with unraveling the fabled mystery of The Utopia Experiment , which is believed to predict catastrophic events. The five get in the way of a secret organization called The Network . Furthermore, the hit man Arby is following the quintet.

Reviews
Utopia was generally well received. On the Internet Movie Database , Utopia achieved an average rating of 8.4 / 10 based on around 36,000 reviews (as of August 2019).
Tom Sutcliffe of The Independent praises the "great visual representation" ( English "great visual style") series and stresses in terms of characters that "you would never get the feeling that Utopia use interchangeable puppets" ( "you never get the feeling did it [Utopia] 's just toying with interchangeable puppets "). Sam Wollaston from The Guardian describes Utopia as a testimony to brilliant imagination ("work of brilliant imagination") and highlighted the opening scene as "fantastic" ("now that's a fantastic scene"). On the other hand, he notes the sometimes too violent portrayal as a negative aspect.
US remake
In February 2014 it was announced that the American cable television provider HBO had commissioned an American adaptation of the series. Director David Fincher was to shoot the US version and act as executive producer with Gillian Flynn and Joshua Donen . In August 2015, due to budget difficulties with the project, HBO announced the discontinuation of the planned television series, which was in production at the time. In 2018, Amazon ordered another new edition of Utopia from the author Flynn, who was involved in the first attempt.
