Tuncay Akdoğan (* 1959 in Adana ; † November 21, 2004 in Istanbul ) was an Alevi- Turkish singer.

Life

Akdoğan studied journalism at Marmara University . During this time he became interested in music and co-founded the music group Grup Yorum . He was arrested with Efkan Sesen in November 1988 for singing songs in Kurdish . He sang and wrote several songs on the Yorum albums Sıyrılıp Gele , Haziranda Ölmek Zor and Türkülerle . He also played the drum and the long-necked lute bağlama . In 1989 he left the Yorum music group with the Turkish singer İlkay Akkaya and founded a new music group called Kızılırmak with Akkaya and Ismail Ilknur .

From 1990 to 1997 he worked on the albums of the Kızılırmak group with his own works. With Gürsoy Tanç, Metin Kalaç and Fırat Başkale he founded the rock group Serüvenciler . The group broke up after the only album Veda (Farewell) due to discrepancies. In total, Tuncay Akdoğan wrote about 30 poems and songs. He was a member of the collecting society MESAM. Also was Akdoğan arranger of several albums by various singers.

The singer met his friends before his death and talked about death and life. In a conversation with his friends in Taksim, he is said to have said that he would die in the week. Akdoğan lived alone on the fifth floor of an apartment building. That same day, Akdoğan went home that night and saw that the electricity had been turned off because he had not paid the electricity bills due to financial problems. He lit a candle and fell asleep after a while. The singer died on November 21, 2004 in a fire caused by the candle.

In his last poem, his farewell is expressed with the words:

"Those who love me. I go. Afterwards I noticed; the water flows, the wind blows and the rain falls. Everything happens the same way. I have come to a place where the warmth and the cold, the Love and hate, war and peace occur and first of all the judgment. If I go, it will become a separation. If I stay, it will become a desert. If I go, perhaps the longing will be with me and those who take me love, miss me. But I understood that no one dies of longing. Yes, I'm dying. I breathe, perceive it and want to go. I understand that longing only lasts until a new love is reached. My loved ones and those who love me, forgive me. The water flows and I go ... "

Tuncay Akdoğan is now buried in the ' Kilyos Mezarlığı ' cemetery. In his memory, a year later, with the support of his friends Ilkay Akkaya, Firat Baskale, Ahu Öztürk and Adile Yadirgi, his last music album was completed and released in July 2005.
