James Fox (actor)
James Fox (born May 19, 1939 in London ; actually William Fox ) is a British actor .
Life
James Fox was born the son of acting agent Robin Fox , who represented numerous famous clients. Many members of his family worked as actors. Through his father's mediation, he got his first film roles as a child. He made his film debut in 1950 at age eleven in Your Secret as the son of Greer Garson . In the same year he played his first leading role in the Ealing production The Magnet . Fox later attended the Central School of Speech and Drama , but then worked for some time as a bank clerk.
His acting breakthrough came in Joseph Losey's film drama Der Diener (1963) alongside Dirk Bogarde . For his portrayal of a young bon vivant who comes under the influence of his butler, he received the British Academy Film Award as the most promising newcomer. Other successful film productions such as King and Modern Millie - wanted rich man established him as a prominent actor. In 1970 he starred alongside Mick Jagger in performance and was at the height of his career. After performing , Fox retired from acting for eight years to devote himself to his Christian faith. Among other things, he worked for the Navigator Missionary Community .
From the late 1970s, Fox managed to return to the film business. James Fox has been married to Mary Elizabeth Piper since 1973 and has five children, including actors Laurence and Jack Fox. His brothers are actor Edward Fox and film producer Robert Fox, and his niece is actress Emilia Fox .
