Jared Harris
Jared Francis Harris (born August 24, 1961 in London , England ) is a British actor .
life and career
Jared Harris' parents are Elizabeth Rees and the actor Richard Harris . His older brother is the director and screenwriter Damian Harris (* 1958). His younger brother is the actor Jamie Harris (* 1963). His stepfather was Rex Harrison , with whom the mother was married for a second time.
Harris attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. In the United States, he studied drama and literature at Duke University and graduated in 1984. He was then a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in London for years and starred in the Shakespeare plays Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet as well as in The Silent Woman by Ben Jonson and A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess .
His first feature film was 1989 Er? Want! You not? , where his brother Damian was responsible for the direction and script. In New York , he joined the off-Broadway in the play ecstasy of Mike Leigh and received in 1992 for an Obie Award . He also founded The Sinachie Theater Company there . In addition to his stage work, he appeared in front of the camera more than 50 times, in the film I Shot Andy Warhol he was seen in the title role in 1996. In 2013 he took on the role of "Joseph Coupland" in the hammer film thriller The Quiet Ones .
In 1998 Harris was honored as best actor for the film Trance at the Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya . In 2000 he received the New American Cinema Award at the Seattle International Film Festival for The Weekend with the acting company . 2018 he took over in the five-part miniseries Chernobyl station's HBO the role of the scientist Valery Legasov . His performance earned him a nomination for the Emmy in the category Best Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie .
In 1996, his five-year relationship with American actress Tahnee Welch ended . He was then married to actress Emilia Fox from 2005 to 2009 .
