action

The 30-year-old Steven Schoichet still lives with his sister Heidi with his parents in a typical American small town. He is a commercial clerk at a retailer for electronics goods, his sister Heidi is a wedding advisor. Steven is friends with Fangora Gurkel, a rock musician of average talent with a tendency to kleptomania who has not performed for a long time. Steven and his sister are both single. So far he has not had the courage to start a new relationship, his sister is still trying to keep her crazy and former fiancé at a distance.

Steven is dissatisfied with his previous job. When he saw a movie with a ventriloquist in front of the television one night, he decided to give his life a new twist. The following day he quits his job and becomes unemployed. To become a ventriloquist artist is initially met with incomprehension by his family - in contrast to the secure job as a commercial employee. However, Steven doesn't let that stop him and finally gets his first engagement as a ventriloquist in a retirement home. His ventriloquist dummy is not only his working tool, but also his instrument at the same time to reveal his previously hidden abilities and qualities.

Steven meets Lorena Fanchetti, an employee of the employment office, while looking for a job. He finds her attractive and advertises her. He takes advice from his friend Fangora on this matter, as she repeatedly pretends to know what women want. Your ideas and suggestions are fundamentally useless and ultimately lead to a court injunction for stalking. After apologizing to Lorena via video message, he manages to meet her and win her over. They arrange to meet up for a rendezvous, with Steven again carelessly accepting advice from Fangora. After a completely unsuccessful rendezvous, Lorena finally breaks off the relationship.

Fangora meets Heidi, and in the course of the conversation Heidi gives Fangora an engagement with her band. To get this job, she pretends to play Yiddish Klezmer for a Jewish wedding party. Heidi doesn't know, however, that Fangora's band is actually a metal band. At the Jewish wedding organized by his sister Heidi, everyone involved meets again, and in a furious finale Steven can show that he is Mr. Right for Lorena.
