Damian Harris (born August 2, 1958 in London , England , Great Britain ; sometimes DD Harris ) is a British -American film director and screenwriter .

Life and accomplishments

Damian Harris grew up in England. He is a son of Elizabeth Rees (Elizabeth Rees-Williams) and the actor Richard Harris . The parents were married from 1957 to 1969. His younger brothers are the actors Jared Harris (* 1961) and Jamie Harris (* 1963). Jared was the husband of actress Emilia Fox . Damian Harris' stepfather was Rex Harrison , with whom the mother was married from 1971 to 1975 in a second marriage. As a child, Harris watched film directors David Lean and Sam Peckinpah film . In 1968, he appeared as a child in the movie A Unlucky Otley (Otley) with Romy Schneider .

In the 1980s he moved to the USA, where he was trained at New York University . It wrote the screenplay Night of the Realm and directed short films. His first movie was He? Want! You not? (The Rachel Papers) (1989) based on a novel by Martin Amis . For this film, Harris won a Special Jury Prize at the 1991 Paris Film Festival . This was followed by the thriller Bad Company (1995) with Ellen Barkin and Laurence Fishburne , Deceived ( 1991) with Goldie Hawn and Mercy - The Dark Side of Lust ( Mercy ) (2000) with Ellen Barkin and Peta Wilson .

Harris has a daughter named Ella from a divorced marriage. He later had a son named Marlowe, who was born in 2002, with Australian actress Peta Wilson, the leading actress on the television series Nikita . Harris and Wilson met in 1992 soon after they moved to Los Angeles, and separated after about ten years.
