Gardens of the Night is an American film drama from the year 2008 . Directed by Damian Harris , who also wrote the script.
action
17-year-old Leslie is looking for shelter in a home in San Diego . Her childhood is shown in flashbacks . As a seven-year-old girl, she was kidnapped, drugged and forced into prostitution by two men. In captivity, she meets Donnie, who is the same age.
Leslie is reunited with the family.
Reviews
The editors of www.kino-zeit.de described the film as "violent" and as an "antithesis" to the "very shrill and very excited Julia " competition entry by Erick Zonca.
Awards
The film took part in the Berlin International Film Festival 2008 as a competition entry, whereby Damian Harris was nominated for the Golden Bear . The Golden Bear went to the Brazilian film Tropa de Elite .
