Gillian McLaren Jacobs (born October 19, 1982 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress and director .

life and career

Gillian Jacobs grew up in Mt. Lebanon , a Pittsburgh suburb. She studied acting at the Juilliard School in New York City .

Jacobs began her career with numerous guest and supporting roles in television series and films , for example in Fringe - borderline cases of the FBI , Criminal Intent - crime in the sights , Royal Pains or Good Wife , and has appeared in several theater productions. In Damian Harris ' melodrama Gardens of the Night (2008) she took on her first film lead role.

Jacobs played one of the lead roles in Dan Harmon's cult sitcom community from 2009 until the series ended in 2015 . In addition, she was still seen in various films, such as the sci-fi - thriller The Box - You are the experiment (2009), the film drama Solitary Man (2009) and the comedy Girls Night Out - too shy fasting!
