Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is a 2015 published US science fiction - comedy directed by Steve Pink and a screenplay by Josh Heald . The film serves as a sequel to the 2010 film Hot Tub - The Whirlpool ... is a damn time machine and was released on May 7, 2015 in German cinemas.

Five years after the events of Hot Tub ... is a bloody time machine Lou Dorchen, Jacob Dorchen and Nick Webber made their families rich and famous, but all struggled with their self-esteem. Lou shows off his financial success to his employee Brad; Nick and his wife Courtney have relationship problems, and Jacob shows increasing dislike for Lou. At a party, Lou is approached by his old schoolmate Gary Winkle and receives an offer to buy land from him. Lou refuses, however. Suddenly he is shot in the penis by a stranger. Jacob and Nick see no choice but to travel back in time with him in the Whirlpool Time Machine to stop the assassin.
When you wake up, however, you find yourself not in the past, but ten years in the future. There they meet Adam Yates-Steadmeyer, the son of their old friend Adam Yates, and explain the situation to him. Lou sees the aged Gary Winkle and pulls him to the ground, believing he was the assassin. However, he finds out afterwards that turning down his offer has brought Gary great fortune. Gary invites the boys to his nightclub, where they party all night. At the end of the evening they will be picked up - with Nick as a “special guest” - to appear on the TV show “Choozy Doozy”. During the show, Lou suggests that Nick should have sex with a man, but is then chosen as a candidate himself. He manages to persuade Adam Jr. to take on the role. Adam's fiancée Jill watches the show. The whole situation upsets Jacob and he leaves the group in frustration to return to Gary's club. The others later find him when he is about to jump off the roof of his villa, but they stop him in time.
On television, the group saw a report about Lou's former employee Brad, in which it was stated that he was the inventor of nitrotrinadium , the chemical that makes the time machine work. They believe they found the assassin in Brad. Shortly before Adam Jr. and Jill's wedding, Jill gets mad at Adam Jr. for seeing him with Nick on "Choozy Doozy". Angry, she runs away and later has sex with Lou. The two are caught by Adam Jr. Jacob finds Brad, but quickly realizes that Brad is not the assassin. A short time later, it turns out that Adam Jr. stole the nitrotrinadium after seeing Lou and Jill together and made his way to the hot tub. They chase him, but when they arrive at the time machine to stop him, Adam Jr. has already traveled back in time to shoot Lou at the party. The boys sit down in frustration when Jacob suddenly realizes that through Adam's journey back in time, the nitrotrinadium is now back in them in the future. They find a vial of the substance and go back to 2015. They arrive there just in time to stop Adam Jr. from shooting Lou after he apologized to Adam for sleeping with his fiancée and screwing up his wedding.
Nick apologizes to Courtney and Lou tells his wife Kelly that he wants to start over. Adam Jr. meets Jill for the first time and Jacob also approaches Sophie, his future girlfriend, and begins a relationship with her. The four of them go to the time machine one more time when all of a sudden Lou's head is shot down by Adam (in the theatrical version of Lou). Suddenly, “Patriot Lou” from the 18th century appears from the time machine and invites the boys to “make America a reality” with him. You agree and go back to the whirlpool to travel back in time. In the credits you can see how the guys change the past together.

Filming began on June 5, 2013 in New Orleans . A release date of December 25, 2014 was announced for the United States on January 31, 2014, but was later rescheduled to February 20, 2015. The film was released in German cinemas on May 7, 2015. John Cusack , who played a leading role in the first part, can only be seen in Hot Tub Time Machine 2 in a cameo in the unrated version of the film.
The film, produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and distributed by Paramount Pictures , grossed a total of 12.8 million dollars worldwide and was unable to cover its budget of 14 million dollars.

The film received consistently negative reviews from critics. He has an average rating of 14% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 94 reviews. On Metacritic , the average rating is 29%, based on 31 reviews.
