Cornelius Crane "Chevy" Chase (born October 8, 1943 in New York City , New York ) is an American comedian and actor . He became internationally known for his role as the father of the family, Clark W. Griswold, in the National Lampoon comedies.

Life

Chase began his comedy career writing for the satirical magazine Mad and the television show Channel One , which resulted in his film debut Big Gäg - Movie Station . Chevy Chase became known as a member of the comedy show Saturday Night Live , which first aired in the United States in 1975. In 1976 he left the ensemble during the second season, as his contract was limited to one year and he was able to take part in feature films due to his strong growth in popularity. From 2009 to 2013, Chase starred on the television series Community as Pierce Hawthorne, an often grumpy, aged industrialist and millionaire. Chase left the series at the end of the fourth season due to personal conflicts with the creators of the series.
