action

The London private investigator Benjamin Browning finds the body of the woman he was supposed to protect on behalf of the mysterious Mr. Bart. A short time later, he himself is murdered. But as soon as he arrives in heaven, there is a surprise for him. Benjamin is sent back to earth as the dog Benji to solve the two murders.

Benji follows the heels of the pretty journalist Jackie, who is also investigating the deaths.

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times of July 11, 1980 that the film was a "complete miscalculation from beginning to end" ("total miscalculation from beginning to end"). The direction of almost every scene shows a "deadly creeping" tempo, the dialogues would be recited "discouraged monotonously". The solution to the secret is "numbingly uninteresting".

Cinema magazine wrote that the "dog comedy" was silly. Only the film dog Benji pleased the audience.
