Barbara Leigh-Hunt
Barbara Leigh-Hunt (born December 14, 1935 in Bath , Somerset , England ) is a British theater and film actress .
Life
Barbara Leigh-Hunt was born in Bath in 1935 to Elizabeth (née Jones) and Chandos Austin Leigh-Hunt . As a drama student at Bristol Old Vic , she made her professional stage debut in 1952. From then on, she joined in numerous theater productions, especially in pieces of William Shakespeare , in England and in other countries of Europe on. In the 1950s she was also seen on New York Broadway , including in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Hamlet . At times she was also a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company .
From 1965 she was regularly in front of the film camera. In 1972 she played a murder victim in Alfred Hitchcock's thriller Frenzy . That same year she played Catherine Parr in Henry VIII and His Six Wives . In 1983 she was featured in the television miniseries Wagner - The Life and Work of Richard Wagner as Queen of Bavaria alongside actors such as Richard Burton , Vanessa Redgrave , John Gielgud and Laurence Olivier . She is also known for her portrayal of the authoritative Lady Catherine de Bourgh in the BBC television series Pride and Prejudice (1995), in which she appeared alongside Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth .
From 1967 Leigh-Hunt was married to the actor Richard Pasco († 2014), who brought a son into the marriage and with whom she played several times on stage and in film.
