Jennifer Ehle

Jennifer Anne Ehle (born December 29, 1969 in Winston-Salem , North Carolina ) is an American actress .

life and career

Jennifer Ehle is the daughter of British actress Rosemary Harris and US author John Ehle . She was trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London .

Ehle was mainly through her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in the BBC - film adaptation of Jane Austen's classic Pride and Prejudice known (1995). For this role she received the BAFTA award, among other things . After that she shot more in the cinema , including the films Paradise Road (1997), Oscar Wilde (1997), A Touch of Sunshine (1999) and Obsessed (2002).

In addition to her work as an actress for film and television , Ehle is also a renowned stage actress , who received a Tony Award in 2001 for her role in Tom Stoppard's play The Real Thing . In 2007 she received another Tony Award for the role of Malwida von Meysenbug in The Coast of Utopia .
