Colin Andrew Firth , CBE (born September 10, 1960 in Grayshott ) is a British actor and film producer . In 2011 he was awarded an Oscar for his leading role in the historical film The King's Speech .

Firth was born in 1960 in the English county of Hampshire . After attending the Montgomery of Alamein School in Winchester and Barton Peveril College, he trained as an actor at the Drama Center in London.

In 1984 he starred in Lady with the Camellias ( Camille ), a television film with Greta Scacchi and Ben Kingsley .
