Livia Giuggioli (born September 4, 1969 in Rome ) is an Italian film producer who mainly focuses on documentaries.

Life

She studied at the La Sapienza University in Rome. She graduated with the production of a documentary, " Giuseppe Tornatore : A Dream Dreamt in Sicily," directed by Marc Evans . Giuggioli worked as a production assistant with Fernando Ghia from 1990 to 1995, when she met the actor Colin Firth during the filming of the television film "Nostromo" in Colombia and became engaged to him. They have been married since June 21, 1997. They have two children together, who were born in 2001 and 2003. In 2006, she and her husband founded the production company Nana Productions , which produced their first film "In Prison My Whole Life" the following year. The film examines the legality of the trial in which political activist Mumia Abu-Jamal was sentenced to death for the murder of police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981 . Livia Giuggioli, together with Firth, supports the organization Survival International , which works for the rights of indigenous peoples. Together they founded the consulting agency Eco-Age in 2007 , which promotes sustainability and advises companies on it. She received several awards for its social and environmental commitment, as the price leader of Change 2012 of the United Nations and the following year the United Nations Fashion for Development Award . In 2014, Colin Firth and Livia Giuggioli received the honorary award of the German Sustainability Award alongside Horst Köhler and Nelly Furtado .

From 1997 to 2019 she was married to Colin Firth, with whom she has two sons (the children are British and Italian citizens). In 2017 Colin Firth also took on the Italian citizenship. In late 2019, the couple announced their split. The reason for divorce assumed is an affair led by Giuggioli in 2015 and 2016 with the Italian journalist Marco Brancaccia.
