Fernando Ghia
Fernando Ghia (born July 22, 1935 in Rome , Italy , † June 1, 2005 ) was an Italian film producer and actor .
Life
Ghia's film career began as an actor in the late 1950s. After that he had a stint as an acting agent . Then began a collaboration with his mentor, the Italian producer Franco Cristaldi , for whom he produced several films. Ghia learned the English language from actor Albert Finney and moved to Hollywood for a decade before returning to Italy in the late 1980s. He founded the film production company PIXIT Productions in Rome and produced the television series Nostromo . His greatest success was the 1986 film Mission, starring Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro , with which he worked for ten years and for which he was nominated for his only Oscar .
Ghia died on 1 June 2005 at the age of 69 years to cancer . He left a son, born in 1996, with actress Gaia De Laurentiis .
