Renée Kathleen Zellweger [ ɹəˈneɪ ˈzɛlwɛɡɚ ] (born  April 25, 1969 in Baytown , Texas ) is an American actress and two-time Oscar winner.

Life

Renée Zellweger's father, Emil Erich Zellweger, who comes from Au in the canton of St. Gallen (Switzerland), is an engineer. Her mother Kjellfrid Irene Andreassen, from a village near Kirkenes originates in Norway and the ethnic group of the seed belongs, is a midwife and nurse . She has an older brother.

In 2001, Zellweger's performance as the title character in the film Bridget Jones - Chocolate for Breakfast was enthusiastically received. As the partner of Colin Firth and Hugh Grant , she played a British woman who wanted to start over and find the man for life - while doing so, she noted down her unusual experiences and thoughts in a diary. The role earned her Academy Award nominations, the British Academy Film Award , the Golden Globe Award , the Empire Award , the MTV Movie Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award, and her breakthrough as an actress. In Rob Marshall's 13-time Oscar-nominated musical film Chicago (2002) she played a leading role alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere . The film takes the viewer to Chicago in the 1920s. Zellweger plays Roxie Hart, who would do anything for fame and the limelight and does not shy away from scandals and lies. She won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in the Musical / Comedy Category, as well as two awards from the Screen Actors Guild for Best Actress and as a Member of Best Motion Picture Company.
