His friend Billy Mack Black, whom he knows from prison, suggests that he rob a shop that is said to have $ 10,000 in the safe. Watty agrees because he owes a local gang boss that he has to pay off quickly. In the robbery, however, Billy loses his nerve and shoots a cashier. When he then threatens Watty with a pistol, the latter seriously injures him and leaves him behind.
Watty is then visited by two police officers who believe he is the cashier's murderer. They beat him up and threaten him, but are then shot by Starlene in self-defense. The couple then set off for Mexico. On the way they get married, threatening the judge with a pistol when he recognizes them - meanwhile the police are looking for them and their photos are shown on television. You visit Starlene's parents in San Antonio and then continue towards the Mexican border.
Dinosaur Bob and Creepy Cody, two debt collectors, and Billy, who survived Watty's attack and wants to take revenge, also visit Starlene's parents to find out from them what Watty is planning. The debt collectors are wounded. After Dinosaur Bob dies from his injuries, Billy also kills Creepy Cody. He catches up with Watty and Starlene at the border and forces them to take him to Mexico. There he threatens her again, but is overwhelmed and shot by Starlene. Watty and Starlene now want to start a new life.
