Life
Jeffrey Combs was originally intended for the role of Commander William Riker in Starship Enterprise - The Next Century , but was eliminated from the castings against Jonathan Frakes and should be considered by the producers for other series.
Combs is one of the few Star Trek actors who not only appears in more than one series, but also played different roles in the same series. He was also seen in a Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager episode as the Norcadian Penk . In Star Trek: Enterprise , he played the Andorian Commander Shran and the Ferengi space pirate Krem in a solo appearance. In Babylon 5 he plays a psi agent in episode 16 of the first season.
Combs appeared in the television series 4400 - The Returners in 15 episodes in the role of Kevin Burkhoff . He also played Edgar Allan Poe in the Masters of Horror episode "The Black Cat".
Combs played the sole role in the "one-man" play "Nevermore ... an Evening with Edgar Allan Poe" at The Steve Allen Theater in Hollywood, California . In March 2012, he again played Edgar Allan Poe in the play by Stuart Gordon . Combs played his alter ego Dr. Herbert West also re-animator in the musical version of the Stuart Gordon film .
