action

Almost two years ago Julie and three of her friends threw the fisherman Ben Willis supposedly dead into the sea, and about twelve months ago two of the friends were cruelly murdered. Julie has had terrible nightmares about the killer ever since . She wakes up screaming in their policy course and leaves disturbed the lessons . On the way to her dorm, Julie meets Ray, who wants to spend the upcoming vacation with her in Southport . But she refuses and leaves him disappointed. The next morning Julie and her roommate Karla get a call from the host of their favorite radio show and Karla wins a weekend getaway for four to the Bahamas . Since Ray declines Julie's invitation to come, Karla invites her boyfriend Tyrell and Julie to join Julie's college friend Will.

Arrived on the paradise island, the four have to find out that all other guests are leaving the island due to the upcoming hurricane season and they will be the only guests. When Julie was asked to sing in the hotel's karaoke bar that evening , instead of the lyrics to the song, she saw the sentence: "I still know what you did last summer". She reacts in a panic and walks to her room. After Will can calm her down, Julie finds the corpse of a hotel employee in the closet a short time later. Now she is sure that Ben Willis must be on the island. Julie then lets Karla, Will and Tyrell in on the events of the past two summers. At this point in time the hotel is already empty. The few remaining employees are gradually being further decimated by the killer. With storms approaching soon, it is no longer possible for the friends to leave the island.

Karla wants to distract Julie with some exercise in the in-house gym . When Julie then lies down in the solarium , the killer locks her up and sets the temperature to the highest level. She is rescued at the last moment by Tyrell and Will. A short time later, Tyrell is brutally murdered. Julie wants to help the apparently badly injured Will and looks for the wound. When she doesn't find any, Will explains that the trip wasn't a profit. He and his father Ben Willis had planned to lure Julie to the island, which they had succeeded. He gave himself the name "Will Benson" (Ben's Son = dt. "Ben's son") in order to conceal his true identity from Julie and still give her a crazy reference to it. Will takes Julie to the nearby cemetery, where Ben Willis is waiting for her. The meanwhile appeared Ray rushes to Julie to help. He manages to free her, with Ben accidentally killing his own son. Then he goes furiously on Ray and Julie. She shoots him with Ray's gun and he falls into a grave that was actually meant for her. Julie shoots the drum empty and Ben sinks into the muddy grave.

Julie, Ray and Karla, who escaped the killer with the last of their strength, survive the trip to hell and are rescued by the coast guard .

Another year has passed: Ray and Julie are married and live together in a house. Julie returns home in the evening and comes up the stairs. She walks past the bathroom, in which Ray is, into a room that has not yet been furnished and closes the window that is open there. When she leaves the room, you can see muddy footprints on the floor. She goes into the bedroom and sits on the bed. The camera pans down to her ankles. The fisherman lies there and pulls her under the bed with the hook. She screams and tries to cling to the ground.

Reviews

  • prisma : “Following the same principle as that of the forerunner - all people around Julie are slaughtered - this is also about superficial horror. Of course, the uneducated American does not notice that the answer to the radio quiz was wrong. So it becomes immediately clear that everything is just a trap. What followed is dreary horror according to scheme F. Even the damn pretty leading actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and the black US singer Brandy ( Have You Ever? ) Ca n't tear anything. Simply boring! "
  • Dirk Jasper (Dirk Jasper FilmLexikon): “The successful sequel to“ I know what you did last summer ”also has a lot to offer in terms of thrills , because the nightmare has only just begun. At the side of Jennifer Love Hewitt, pop star and teenage icon Brandy gives a cinematic appearance well worth seeing in this exciting horror thriller by Danny Cannon. "
  • Lexicon of the international film : “A tired infusion with a low-tension plot that seeks its salvation in increased corpse production. At most, the fresh play of the young actors is positive. "
