Jack Nance

Jack Nance (* 21st December 1943 in Boston , Massachusetts ; † 30th December 1996 in Pasadena , California ; actually Marvin John Nance ) was an American film and television actor who mainly through his work with David Lynch became known .

Life

Jack Nance already had stage experience when he got his first role in the 1970 film Fools . His first leading role was given to David Lynch, who cast him in his very bizarre film Eraserhead (1977). After that he only played a leading role in one important film, namely in Barbet Schroeder's Barfly from 1987.

In 1984 he worked again with Lynch, in his (commercial) flop Dune - Der Wüstenplanet (1984). In 1986 both worked together again: In Blue Velvet Nance can be seen as gangster Paul. In 1990 he played the role of Pete Martell in the cult series Twin Peaks .

This was followed by appearances in Wild at Heart as the crazy 00Spool , and in Lost Highway as Phil . Nance was married to Catherine E. Coulson , who starred in Twin Peaks in the role of Log Lady . His second wife Kelly Jean Van Dyke, daughter of Jerry Van Dyke , committed suicide in November 1991 suicide . Shortly after the filming of Lost Highway , Jack Nance was seriously injured in the head by two men in a fight outside a donut shop in Los Angeles. A little later he was found dead in his apartment. Severe trauma was diagnosed at the autopsy.
